Lenhardt Airpark Airport

On Wednesday August 8th our class went to visit the Lenhardt Airport in Hubbard Oregon. While there we met with two pilots, Jeff and Gerry, who let us explore their planes first-hand. Our class loved buckling up with the seatbelt harness and wearing the radio control headphones. After exploring the airplanes we  made our very own glider airplanes to fly down the runway. Special thanks to Darci and her father-in-law Jeff Peterson for making our student's love of airplanes come to life. Also we thank Andre and Brandon Du Preez for joining us on this trip!

2:30 P.M. Walk back to the "perfect" spot for a snack and dry off before taking the bus back

We Help Others: Oregon Food Bank

On Friday July 20th, 2012 our class completed our Health Sciences unit on nutrition by participating in a 2 hour long Service-Learning activity at the Oregon Food Bank. Our class spent the afternoon packing 2lb. bags of oatmeal and labeling food bags . Last year the Oregon Food Bank moved over 81 million pounds of food throughout the state of Oregon. Below you will see pictures of the students in two different groups completing their tasks. Xander, Miles, and I worked as an assembly line filling bags of oatmeal with UPS Volunteers. Nodaway Blueberry Farm Picking

On Thursday July 12th, 2012 our class took the SMART Bus to a local U-Pick Blueberry Farm called Nodaway Farms. We prepared for our trip by reading Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey and completed a fill-in the blank Social Story about our trip. This story included the following information 

• How we would get to and from the farm.
• What time we would leave Victory Academy and what time we would return.
• How long we would pick blueberries at the farm.
• Who each student parter and teacher was.
• The minimum number of blueberries he/she had to pick. 
• Social expectations while riding the bus.

We picked over 2 1/2 pounds of blueberries while we were there. However, I'm positive we all ate more blueberries along the way than we brought home! Please look at the photos of our trip below.
